Privacy policy
Ferry is a clipboard manager for Chrome made by PointerApps (“we”, “us”). This page explains, in plain words, what Ferry stores, where, and why. The short version: your clips stay on your device, we only hold what an account needs, and we don’t sell or advertise with anything.
What Ferry stores on your device
- The things you copy in Chrome (text, links, and similar), with a title, a type and the site they came from.
- Your settings, pins and collections.
This is kept in your browser’s local storage on your computer. Ferry does not upload your clips to our servers today.
What Ferry never saves
Ferry tries to recognise secrets and skips them automatically: passwords, one-time codes, card numbers, API keys and seed phrases. Skipped secrets are not added to your history. Detection is automatic and not perfect, so please keep treating sensitive material with care.
Your account
You can use Ferry as a guest and save 15 clips. To keep saving, you create a free account with an email address and a password. We use them only to sign you in and to keep your account secure. We do not use your email for marketing unless you ask us to.
Account data is stored on our own self-hosted Appwrite server at appwrite.pointerapps.net. Passwords are stored in hashed form, not as plain text.
AI
AI features that title, sort and search your clips, and “magic paste”, run on your device using Chrome’s built-in model (Gemini Nano) where your device supports it. Your clips are not sent to us for this. Optional cloud AI is not available yet. If we add it, it will only run on a clip you choose, we will say so in the app, and we will update this page first.
Sync
Encrypted sync between computers is not available yet. If we launch it, the plan is end-to-end encryption, so that synced clips are scrambled before they leave your device. We will update this policy before it goes live.
Analytics, ads and training
- This website and the extension use no analytics and no advertising trackers.
- We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
- We do not use your clips to train AI models.
The uninstall survey
If you remove Ferry, we may show a one-question survey. It is optional. If you submit it, we store your chosen reason and any note you type, and nothing else that identifies you. You can leave an email in the note, but you don’t need to.
Deletion and export
You can export or delete your clips from within Ferry at any time, and removing the extension deletes the clips stored on your device. To delete your account and the data we hold for it, write to support@pointerapps.net.
Children
Ferry is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the product.
